34 days to go...

Alright... so I suppose I owe you an update.

Where do I start? (I'm telling you right now... don't judge me if i get lazy and switch into all lower-case because I keep trying to... you have been warned.)

Got my dress back today. its better... still not as perfect as i would have hoped for it, but i'm not messing with it anymore... its getting (unnoticeably) torn up and THAT, my friends, is not cool. I didn't put it on today... I don't want to ever put it on again until January 2nd. No more thinking about it... it is finished.

Now its time to go veil shopping (yikes...)

The honeymoon is in shambles right now. I don't remember if i wrote, but long story short... Airtran screwed us in the ass and switched our flight. We fixed it. 2 weeks later Bahamasair screwed us in the ass and switched our flight. We tried to fix it... about 20 different ways... each more expensive than the last.

We then went to Liberty Travel to see what they could do... virtually nothing. Great. So it was either gonna cost us a bazillion dollars just to GET to the bahamas... or... we were gonna have to go with another plan and take a hit, but a lesser one.

We went with that.

Now where are we going? We haven't really nailed it down yet, but we're thinking Disney.

We shall see.

Theres a TON of stuff that still needs to be done because i procrastinated and didn't feel like planning our wedding anymore (i still don't... you wanna finish it for me and ill just see you on the 2nd????), but now i gotta get moving or we're in trouble. O_o

::huge breath::

Here goes... somethin'..............

Wedding Dress Woe

so long story short... i picked up my wedding dress... paid the lady and 3 days later im staring at the pictures i took while i had it on and decided im not happy.

its not AWFUL... but its not PERFECT...

so im having one of my Bridesmaids (Andy) come over and help me put my dress on Wednesday so we can take another look at it and see what, if anything, needs to be and can be fixed.

if i decide it definitely needs to be fixed, i just hope my seamstress doesn't try to kick me to the curb since I already paid her. THAT would seriously piss me off... but then I guess I'd just have to go to someone else and have it fixed. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

::sigh::

It's ALLLLLL coming together!

Okay... seeing as how its 346am... I'm gonna try to keep this fairly short (ha, yeah right).

our passports came yesterday *finally* so we were able to book our flight from ft. lauderdale to the bahamas!!! ... I don't remember if i told that story or not already... but long story, short.... we booked our plane from BWI to FLL and back again... (with air tran), then went to book our plane from FLL to FPO and, oh by the way... you need your PASSPORT to book that ish.

so we had to file for them and pray to God that they came in soon enough.

well they came in soon enough for us to still get a flight that works with our other flight (assuming baggage claim is quick enough and there are no delays (God forbid), but not soon enough for us to keep our $370 flight... it went up $70... but... at least we got it.

We also got our flowergirl basket and ring bearer pillow! I'm posing stock photos of them because I'm too lazy to dig out my camera and take pictures of the ones in my possession.

i got them in ivory.

so... yay!

um... what else? oh, im in the process of getting a jacket made for my dress... ill post pics of that when its finished.

um... and my bouquet is done! almost... there still needs to be ribbon put on, but its mostly finished. and the bridesmaids flowers may or may not be finished... we haven't decided yet haha.

but here are mine:

and the bridesmaids:

so... yay, again!

there's still lots to work on though :)

a couple days short of 3 months and I'm working on invitations and some other small details... like the unity candles... bought those today... well i bought candles. regular candles... that we will "decorate" ourselves, cause i refuse to pay $30 for a single candle.

THIS ladies (and gentlemen) is why you should STAY ON TOP OF YOUR SHIZ :)

An active bride, is a happy bride :D

Seriously though... everyone freaks out when someone screws something up for them... but my question is always "well where were YOU on that? why didn't you check up on the dress when they didn't call you when they were supposed to?"

::shrugs::

BUT... hold that thought... i'll come back to that in a minute :)

First, it's time for some recent happenings :)

Keith and I have recently acquired some bathroom decor (yay!) from my parents that has never been used before (price tags still on :D )... but not only THAT... one of my mother's co-workers asked her if she knew anyone who needed a dining room set... and she told them about keith and i getting married. so NOW... we're getting a looks-like-new black lacquer finish dining table, 6 chairs and a curio :D

yay!!!

Next order of business...

I custom ordered a slip from etsy.com for underneath my dress and its FINISHED!!! ...which means i can now officially get my dress fitted!!!!!!! wooooo!

Here's what it looks like (take a good gander cause this'll be the last time you see it :D ;) ):

(click photo to enlarge since its being cut-off for some reason... and then when you're finished, hit your back button)

so yes... im *very* excited about it :) HOPEFULLY when i get it, it works JUST right... if not, the seller im working with is amazing enough to want to fix it :D

and BECAUSE she's so brilliantly amazing... I'm having her custom make me a jacket that i feel in love with (on etsy.com once again), but that seller wasn't so fond of working with me on a custom order. ::oh weeeeelll:: her loss. haha!

NOW... back to the headlining story.

Remember how Alfred Angelo gave me the run around a few months back with Bridesmaid dresses?

Time for round 2!

Mens Warehouse.

So there's a section of the website I'm supposed to be able to log into to track the groomsmen's progress. Well i tried to log in..... and low and behold... it wouldn't work.

so i called the MW in lancaster and the dude had NO flippin clue what i was talking about. i tried to explain it to him and he told me in his X number of years working there he had NEVER heard of such a thing. (thats what you get when you let an old dude work at a store... they know nothing of technology). he kept insisting that i could just call the store and ask what i needed to know and they would look it up and i tried to explain to him that i wanted to be able to TRACK them. myself. at my own free will.

he continued to insist on the call.

i said thank you, hung up, and called the store we were at in whitehall where keith lives.

they fixed the problem for me.

so i logged in TODAY.

after logging in today, im glad i pushed for the online deal to be fixed because there were problems that i would have NEVER ever known about until the 3 days before the wedding when the boys went to pick up their tuxes... and of course by then it would be too late to fix anything.

-Keith: his order was fine.
-Daniel: his order was fine.
-John: his order was fine.
-Tio Charlie: Wrong colored vest. They gave him the same color as the groomsmen... he needs
the same color as the best man.
-Dad: Spelled his name Eseguiel rather than Esequiel. Why is that such a big deal? I mean its
NOT really... but i can see that being a frustrating 5 or 10 minutes when they try to look
up his name in the computer and can't find it.
-Grandpa: Spelled HIS last name wrong. Oguendo rather than Oquendo... do my Q's look like
G's or something when i write them out??????
-Kyle: No pocket square included. ... well get back to that in a minute.
-Will: HIS last name spelled wrong. Greenawait rather than Greenawalt.
-Matthew: He should have the same attire as the groomsmen... NOT... keith....... although we'll
get back to THAT in a minute too...
-Keith's Dad: order was fine
-Keith's Grandpa: his order was fine.

...now she tells me that the pocket squares are EXTRA??? ..they failed to mention that in the store when i included them in the package. We may or may not be keeping those. Depends on what happens after i talk to my mother about those vs. boutonnieres.

...and as far as matthew goes... i TOLD them in the store that he should be the same as the groomsmen............so they dropped the ball there...... but after i told her and hung up, it occured to me that... maybe its SUPPOSED to be like that? i mean... if the flower girl is supposed to mimic the bride...... why wouldn't the ring bearer mimic the groom? i dunno... im gonna have to chew that one over for a bit.

haha

SOOOO...

long story short.

DO NOT EVER depend on the fact that other people have their shiz together.... cause chances are.... they most certainly don't.

If i hadn't been annoyingly on top of the dresses... and now the tuxes... we could have had several bridezilla inducing stressful moments that were thankfully avoided because i stayed on top of everything!!! :)

so... everything is going pretty well so far :D

oh yeah and

today marks...

100 days till our wedding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friday, September 11, 2009

Something new... something new... hm...

well, i feel like i owe and update.

about what? i dunno... so im warning you... this might be a big jumbled ramble.......

okay... well... i already posted about sending out the STDs...

OH!

okay.

flowers.

wish i had pictures, but i dont right now.

Titi Melissa and I went to Michaels the other day to check out the flowers and what not. we ended up getting pretty deep red roses for me and some ivory colored looking.... um... somethings. they kinda look like roses? (they even might be... my short term memory is shot), and then got some brownish, orangy, greens to go into the bridesmaids boquet with their ivory somethings.... um. i feel like there was another type of flower to be mixed in there......... maybe it wasnt such a good idea to talk about flowers right now.

LMAO!

ill take pictures of the ones she makes and post when they're done.

moving on.

booking our honeymoon flight.

easy, right?

wrong.

bummer.

i FINALLY found us the cheapest solution... went through the trouble of booking airtrain to ft. lauderdale (and from there we'd take bahamas air to freeport...) and back home again. smooth as pie.... aside from the hidden "oh yeah if you wanna sit together you better reserve your seat now and its gonna cost you an extra $6 each both ways..." fee.

so we go to book bahamas air and oh, guess what? we couldn't cause APPARENTLY we need our freakin passports to book the damned flight online.

::pulls hair out::

long story short, we didn't think keith's mom had his birth certificate anymore, so we were gonna have to order another one, but by the Grace of God, she found it yesterday.

so today we BOTH went to apply for our passports and hopefully they'll both come in quickly and we can get our asses on that DAMNED PLANE!!!!!!

::prays really really hard::

thats the most exciting news.

Gotta book the limo soon. thats the next thing. maybe work on the wording for the invites....

who knows.

lifes a mystery. :D

OH MY GOD......... im *actually* getting MARRIED?! WTF?! LMAO!

...as if the "lmao" in the title didn't give it away..........

hey. its me. again.

im a bit socially lubricated... again. its a week before this shindig is over (my job contract), so im *actually* hanging with the boys again before we all part ways in 6 days.

ANYWAY.

on my way home i was thinking to myself...............

holy crap.

we're not just talking about this anymore.

im not just planning some crazy expensive birthday party or some shiz...

we're *actually* getting married.

in 4 months.

HOLY. CRAP.

i mean, its not like i didn't *know* that before... but its *FINALLY* starting to sink it a bit more...

IM GETTING MARRIED.

TO KEITH.

in 4 months, theres no more calling home to mom to let her know im spending the weekend at keith's house.... there's no more wishing i were laying down with him at this exact moment even though he's 2 hours away...

we'll be MARRIED.

don't get me wrong.

im *not* nervous at all.

im excited. Impatient even...

but while its *finally* starting to sink in.......... it all feels so surreal at the same time.

it feels almost too good to be true that I get to *finally* spend the rest of my life with him and get to live with him and get to come home to him every day after work.

holy crap...... IM GETTING MARRIED!!!!!!!!!!!

Tuesday, August 11, 2009

*FINALLY*

Save the dates have been MAILED!!!!!! WASSSSSAAAAAAAP MOTHA' FREAAKAAAAS?!

god, that was probably the most single painful thing ive done regarding this wedding. and i get to do it again for the INVI-EFFING-TATIONS! goood... gooood...

oh... by the way... the cake has been ordered :D

dont ask me what its gonna look like, cause quite frankly i dont know anymore. LMAO!!!

i had a picture of what i wanted but my aunt left it at her house when we went for the tasting... so we were looking through the pictures they had there and i pulled 3 different cakes together and said "it has this, from that cake, and this from that cake and then has blah blah blah...."

we put our heads together and were CONVINCED we had it right.

then she gets home and goes "oh...so... remember how we thought it had that pattern?"

"yeah?"

"it doesn't"

"oh. haha"

so...... i mean.... its a cake. who cares.

but its gonna be almond cake... with raspberry jam and raspberry butter creme filling, with butter creme icing on the outside. its delicious... trust me... im the worlds pickiest eater and *I* liked it. its good.

we may, or may not have a sheet cake depending on how many guests are coming... and if we do that will be red velvet w/ butter creme icing. :)

thats all for now.

WOW... long time, no blog...

Alrighty then! It's been a while... sorry... (to my whole THREE followers! ;) haha) I saw that the last entry I had was in April some time... that's pretty accurate considering I started work in Hershey in May, and there wasn't much wedding shiz going on around then.

So anyway... still working... still slacking on planning... lmao.

The STD's are late going out...

at first it was keith's fault cause he was taking FOREVER to get me the addresses i needed, (anyone notice how i magically reverted back to my horrible habbit of typing in all lowercase?) and then once he finally got them to me, i FOUGHT FOR THREE YEARS OF MY LIFE (three years, emily? really? THREE years?) to get right. turns out the template wouldn't open right in Pages, so i had to use my mom's computer to open it on Openoffice. (why didn't i just download Openoffice on my mac??? ...wow... in hindsight, that would have been WAY easier. im a genious.)

somewhere along the way i decided i didn't like plain ol' postcards, so i went on the hunt to staples, officemax, ac moore and micheals to find the cheapest strip of self-adhesive magnet tape.

micheals won. they had the longest roll out of everyone AND it was the cheapest price i found... who could beat that? Anyway, i cut the strips into one inch little guys and stuck them on the top and the bottom on the back of the postcards and TA-DA! instant jumbo magnets. Then i stuffed them in ivory invitation envalopes i bought at staples and stamped and labeled them... and NOW............ they're sitting on my desk. why? cause some of the labels need correcting and im too lazy to go back through them.

i also need to make up a couple more for some people who were late getting their addresses to me.

pfft.

i have to start looking for a seamstress soon... which... i mean... i *want* to do... but i have absolutely no desire to do so at the same time. gotta look for keith's tux soon... grandma is giving me money for the deposit on the limo, so that's gotta get booked soon... i have to remind keith about our ridiculously expensive flight that needs to be booked to the bahamas... (did i mention that already? we're going to the bahamas for our honeymoon...) uuuummm...

all the bridesmaids dresses are in.

OH... THAT'S a fun story... the Alfred Angelo story...

i dont feel like re-typing it all out so im going to copy/paste my rant from a weddingbook thread i started (feel free to skip over it... its really long...):

*******

you DB gals will love this.. ALFRED ANGELO RANT. (long. funny? shrugs)

...actually you david's bridal girls could probably give two sh*ts, but i thought it would be funny to mention since you are all so passionate about DB wink

okay. so.

i didn't get MY dress from alfred angelo, but i DID have my BRIDESMAIDS get them from there.... and well... it has been an interesting experience thus far. let me see if i can remember everything AWESOME that happened.

#1. first day i went in there, i was waiting for BM number one because she was running a little late. i admit i was a LITTLE "rocked out"... k, but thats no reason to be ignored... im a bride... AND a paying customer. i walked in... they looked at me like i was the creature from the black lagoon... when they didn't say hello and just stared at me, i told them why i was there and then they told me i could wait in the back where the seats were. so i started to walk back there... with my dress in its garment bag, i might add... the one i didnt buy from there... and one of the girls stops me and tells me i can't put it on there. well no shit. i told her the only reason i brought it was to compare colors. she told me again i can't put it on in the store. "i dont WANT to put it on... i just want to hold the swatches up to the dress to see what works."

"okay, but you can't take it out, it has to stay in the bag"

"i understand, i just need to compare color."

so annoying.

so then i sat there. no one bothered to come up and ask me if there was anything in particular i was thinking about having her try on... no one tried to sell me on anything else (not that i particularly LIKE that... but... i mean its nice to be paid attention to... it only gets annoying when you have to say no to something a bazillion times, but NO ONE even bothered talking to me once i sat down). my brides maid FINALLY showed up and we waited another 5 minutes before someone decided to come help us even though we had an appointment.

#2. same day. the dress i wanted my BM to try on... they had it in a size 28 and a size 28 ONLY. she's a size 2. their excuse for that was because "its prom season and a lot of our smaller sizes have been bought for prom". we ordered the dress anyway WITHOUT her even trying it on. ... we just decided to cross our fingers.

i called back later to ask what was gonna happen with the REST of my bridesmaids since the rest of them had their appointment the weekend after and they're all wearing different styles so they would want to try them on... and since it was, you know, prom season, i didn't want ALLLL of them to come down for NOTHING. they looked up all the dresses and assured me they had them all in several sizes.

#3. our second visit was better... however... when i went to go pay for the deposit for my first bridesmaid (i wanted all the dresses to be bought together so she gave me the money and then i paid it for her the weekend after when i went in with the rest of my bridesmaids) they couldn't find her in the system. they spelled her last name wrong. nickel. its not hard. its like the currency you use every day. n-i-c-k-e-l. nickel. i was the one that finally went "try typing it in n-i-c-k-l-e ... i bet she typed it in wrong. the girl didn't seem like she thought that was possible. who was right? thats right... this kid *points at self* I dunno about you, but when i worked retail ANY TIME i had to put anyone's name in the computer... NO MATTER how simple it was... i always double checked the spelling with them. common sense ya'll.

#4 really REALLY annoying solicitation calls. i got a call from a mary kay rep... how'd she get my number? she has a special "relationship" with the AA I went to. i already have a makeup artist. i didnt ask for help looking for one. i got several other calls from unknown numbers, im willing to bet were solicitation calls through AA.

#5 (maybe you could call it 4.5) I called AA after my little chat with Mary about her Kay and told them that "i dont know what list you have me on, that i didnt ask to be on, nor consented to be on, but i want off it." they assured me THEIR store had nothing to do with it, but they don't have control over what "corporate" does with our numbers. nice. they promised to take me off the list.

4 days later, i get a 2 minute long message from a sales rep at AA telling me about their 20% off bridesmaids dress sale and a bunch of OTHER things that i wasn't interested in. I called them back and said "i just asked you people to take me off a calling list... that includes calls from your store as well." the told me they'd take me off.

2 weeks later... i get ANOTHER call... from them... about bridesmaids dress sales....

pause for a minute. are you people retarded? seriously? LOOK IN YOUR SYSTEM BEFORE YOU CALL ME. you'd see that i ALREADY had FIVE BRIDESMAIDS BUY BRIDESMAIDS DRESSES... WHY are you calling me about SALES for something i ALREADY have?

i called again and very sternly told them that i ALREADY called twice about NOT wanting to be called about ANYTHING. "i already have EVERYTHING set for my wedding, so i dont need any suggestions or any help, thank you. if i need something, ill call you. i promise."

i haven't gotten a call since.

#6 Christine's dress came in and she texted me about it... so i called AA to see who else's dress was in. they told me mirit's dress and andy's dress was in. i called andy and mirit to make sure that AA did their jobs and called them themselves. they called andy... they DIDN'T call mirit. i find out 2 weeks later when they think the reason she hadn't picked up her dress yet was because they HAD THE WRONG NUMBER. someone called them back finally to tell them to stop calling THEM cause THEY had NO IDEA what dress they were talking about. im pretty sure she said it was a GUYS number too. sweet.

...i dunno about you.. .but when i worked retail.. i DOUBLE CHECKED ANY NUMBER i had to write down that belonged to a customer.

#7 when i called about the other dresses i was told the shipping date for sarah and lillians dress. sarah's dress was supposed to ship on june 26th. lillians isn't supposed to ship until july 20something... so sarah's should have already gotten to the store, but i hadn't heard anythign from sarah about the dress so i decided to call AA this morning.

i asked 2 questions:

1. did sarah's dress ship and get to the store, and if so did she pick it up?
answer: yes, she already picked it up.

2. did lillian's dress ship yet and if not, when is it supposed to because i don't remember.
answer: its not supposed to ship until july 20something... so it hasn't even left yet.

thank you.

...or should i have really said that? why you ask? here's why...

i was at the dollar store with my mother shopping for some of our wedding favors and as we were putting the stuff in the car my mom goes "oh yeah, thats lilly's dress right there!" and she points to her backseat. "what dress?", i ask cause i can't really see it. "her WEDDING DRESS!" "ooh i wanna see!" and as im looking at it... it occurs to me.... i was told it hadn't even left the... whatever... yet. nice.

so i text sarah. "i was told this morning you picked up your dress... did you?" sarahs answer: "nope, im going to get it tomorrow"

okay... so WHY THE HELL was i told 1. that sarahs dress was shipped (which is true) and already picked up (which was NOT true) and that lillians dress was still in that place that dresses live before their shipped to the store (which was not true) and that it wasn't picked up because it hadn't even shipped yet (which was DEFINITELY not true... unless the whole thing was just a hallucination.). not to mention the girl on the phone sounded annoyed that id even be asking those questions.

so yes... all in all.. .it wasn't a TERRIBLE experience... but the reason it WASN'T was because i was ON TOP OF MY SHIT and didn't trust a word anyone was telling me... cause if i had i could be writing a "wedding woe" driven post about my BM dresses right now.

moral of the story ladies: call often. double check everything you book/order and make sure things are happening like they were told to you... and if not... why.

*******

...so anyway... thats that.

i can't think of anything else that needs talked about right now.

...well actually... i thought there was *one* other...... oh yeah. i just worked on the wedding website.... so it should be (mostly) up to date now.

... now i have to update our registry (ugh.)

ok... NOW thats it. :)

I hate church rules.

Why do churches have to be so damned exclusive???? I mean don't get me wrong or anything, I'm a Christian, but when I look at Churches that REQUIRE you to attend THEIR church to get married there... nevermind i already GO to another church, they just cant have weddings there cause there's no PLACE to have one... or the fact that if you're a member its free to have your wedding there, but if you're NOT a member you have to pay a set fee... or get this, i called a friend's church and I mentioned that I was 'friends with a member that recommended I call," and they said "oh, well... we dont allow outside people usually... you'd have to talk to the pastor, we wont let an outside pastor to it, hed have to do it..." OUTSIDE PEOPLE?! wtf??????? AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH. i thought ALL churches were supposed to be the Church of God???? whatever happened to that people? huh? HUH?!

Reception Hall has Been Found!

This is old news really... Keith and I made the deposit to our reception hall a week before I left for the month-long tour that I have just recently returned from. We decided to go with the Elks Club in Lancaster. It's actually a really pretty place and (as the woman showing me excitedly stated) its HAUNTED!! haha... I was with Mirit without Keith and she goes "if its any incentive for your fiance, tell him that its haunted and the Ghost Hunters were even here to investigate! Sometimes you feel a tickle in the back of your neck... they just wanna dance and have a good time..." haha. thats NOT why we picked it. But it is a pretty place hehe. Here are some pictures:

This is the "pre-reception" area/bar area once everything gets kickin' haha. Its a bad picture, I know, but the next bunch are better, I promise.

One Step Closer...

Welp... we're one step closer to making a decision about a venue...  I think... its been a tough decision thus far for both of us, but I think we're almost there...  I hope...  Wedding planning is fun, dont get me wrong but my LEAST FAVORITE part of it, by far, is trying to find a freakin venue that suits our needs and our budget.  Its been the most stressful part.  Most definetly...  everything else has pretty much been a breeze, but the problem is that we cant book anything until we find a place to actually HOLD the event...  oh well... we should know by the end of the week... and then im off to nashville!! :)

I have HOW much time to book a reception hall?!

okay, so good news... i got hired for a short tour.

bad news... i have a week and a half to book a reception hall and possibly a caterer if we decided to go that route.

is emily a bit stressed? i think BIT is a bit of an understatement...

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

i cant figure out which one of our possible scenarios is cheaper and my brain is about to call it quits.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Let the planning resume!

A friend of ours, Liz, gave me this amazing book... its called "bridal bargains"... its probably something that everyone and their mother already knows about but i read the first couple chapters of it and it's extremely helpful. i also found another dress that i have accidentally fallen in love with... although its waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of my price range... i still think its gorgeous :D hee hee like i said i still love the one i originally wanted, and im 99.9% thats the one im going to go with, but just for fun... here's both of them:

my dress (assuming i can get a hold of it):

and now my new love:

Alas, THIS gown is like... $3000.... yikes.

So anyway, that's pretty much that as of right now... i havent really started PLANNING planning again... im gonna wait maybe a day or two before the phone calls commence because i have to take care of a few other things first.
